Initiating opportunity: RTX PARTNERS proactively delivers insights to TELUS
TELUS introduced its supplier diversity program in 2012 to encourage economic development by giving diverse suppliers greater access to purchasing opportunities. Diverse suppliers, classified as businesses majority owned and operated by visible minority, aboriginal or female, oftentimes face challenges in securing supply management contracts when competing against larger, more established organizations. By taking proactive steps to create equal opportunities for diverse suppliers, TELUS is promoting greater opportunities for local suppliers and small businesses.
“At TELUS, we understand that a diverse environment facilitates a broader exchange of ideas and perspectives, which is why we have made a commitment to give historically under-represented groups the opportunity to compete for our business,” said David Sharma, TELUS Chief Procurement Officer. “By launching our supplier diversity program, we aim to deliver an improved customer experience based on a larger portfolio of suppliers that more closely reflect the communities where we live, work and serve.”
RTX Technology PARTNERS, a CAMSC certified minority-owned supplier, engaged TELUS in 2012 after the implementation of its program. As a consulting firm delivering strategy and technology solutions to clients, RTX PARTNERS took the initiative to reach out and share their subject matter expertise and insight while learning about TELUS’ IT performance and technology platforms. It was not long before TELUS executives recognized RTX PARTNERS’ breadth of technical knowledge and strategic solutions capabilities.
TELUS expressed the desire to further enhance the performance of its IT infrastructure, as it is the company’s goal to have best-in-class processes. After seeking recommendations to increase IT resiliency, RTX PARTNERS provided a prompt, credible, independent, and impartial third party perspective to help TELUS define priorities and next steps in order to meet and exceed their business objectives.
